Meet Sean...
Joining the family packaging business in 2005, Sean was able to gain valuable experience across all areas of the operation.  Starting off as the office and warehouse operator, learning all about the products and logistics, he then moved into Business
Development before leading the Supply Chain side.

He’s delighted to look back and
say that he learned a lot about himself in such a testing role and really grew in
confidence.

Taking over as Managing Director in 2014, forced him to take on a more strategic outlook and put a team in place to help with the tactical and operational side, building the business from a turnover of £1.5 million to nearly £3 million (it was only about 700k when I became BDM way back in the day!)

Last year it was time for change. Sean & his sister embarked upon their own challenge and Packed Up was born. He felt he always tried to act like he was part of the business when he became MD but now he actually is and it’s way more rewarding than he could have imagined.  Sean loves being hands on, customer facing and working towards clear goals.  A wee bit of a perfectionist (to his wife’s agreement), wanting to achieve the highest standard possible.

Sean put himself through MCIPS, but everything else he is armed with has been
learned on the job, which for him, has been the best way.  He’s had a few mentors over the years and they were very beneficial. Now it’s time
to give back young people.

Outside of work the two things that are important are family and football. He’s also a

bit of a foodie also, enjoying cooking and BBQ’s!  There are a few things Sean likes to live by when it comes to business. The most important thing is ‘the most dangerous saying in business is that we have always done it this way’.  Change can be difficult, but it is at the core of all successful businesses, be proactive rather than reactive. He’s not the ‘by the book’ type, and likes to be creative when needed.
